Funky Knittings - GetSet for Growth

Necessity was literally the mother of invention when Gabriela Swierczynska moved home and could not find new cushions in the colour she wanted. Following her mother’s suggestion to make her own, Gabriela founded Funky Knittings just before the pandemic and continues to run the business part-time alongside her finance role with the help of her family.

Gabriela sources her yarn from the UK and Europe and has an online shop offering her full range. She is also happy to make something bespoke and often introduces new colours and patterns.

Juggling the demands of work with Funky Knittings, GetSet Solent has helped Gabriela better focus her business objectives and enhance her website. She is grateful for their suggestions, with many of the ideas already being put into action.

Gabriela is now focusing on Pinterest marketing as her next big project. She is also excited about the prospect of selling and teaching seasonal craftmaking at local Christmas markets, where she will also be exhibiting her beautiful homewares.

“We attended a few Christmas markets last year and we’ve had invitations for upcoming events. Most of them are in the New Forest. We are agreeing dates for our first workshop market, showing people how to make knitted or crocheted festive cards and decorations.”
